Terms of Use
The terms that govern your use of Mapcraft — last updated 1 July 2026.
Effective 1 July 2026. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Mapcraft (the "App"), provided by LilinSystems ("we", "us"). By using Mapcraft you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. These are the developer's own service terms; the App Store license itself is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement — see §12.
1. What Mapcraft is. Mapcraft is a maps and real-world exploration app with a blocky, pixel-art interface. It offers map browsing, place search, turn-by-turn directions, saved places, check-ins, and a fog-of-war exploration layer with XP, levels, biomes, quests, resources, and crafting.
2. Not for safety-critical or precise navigation. Mapcraft is provided for general, casual use and entertainment. It is not a substitute for professional-grade navigation, surveying, or emergency services, and must not be relied upon in any situation where inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable information could lead to injury, death, property damage, or environmental harm. Map and routing data may be inaccurate, out of date, or unavailable. Always use your own judgement, obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals, and follow the directions of local authorities.
3. Explore safely and lawfully. Mapcraft encourages real-world movement. You are responsible for your own safety and conduct while exploring: • Stay aware of your surroundings — do not stare at your phone while walking, cycling, or driving. • Do not use the App while operating a vehicle. • Do not trespass on private property, enter restricted or dangerous areas, or break any law to reveal the map or reach a place. • Respect other people, wildlife, and the environment. You explore at your own risk.
4. No account. Mapcraft does not require an account or login. Your progress, saved places, and settings live on your device (see the Privacy Policy).
5. Your content. The places you save, the notes and check-ins you make, and your exploration progress are yours. Because they are stored locally on your device, deleting the App deletes them.
6. Our content. The App — including the Mapcraft name, its pixel art, icons, illustrations, copy, interface, and code — is our intellectual property or is licensed to us (the bundled fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License). You may not copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the App or its assets, except to the limited extent that applicable law permits.
7. Acceptable use. Please do not use the App in ways that break the law, infringe others' rights, harass or track other people, or attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the App or the services it relies on.
8. Third-party services. Map, search, and directions data is provided through Apple's MapKit and is subject to Apple's terms. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the accuracy or availability of that third-party data.
9. No warranty. The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be accurate, error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the App, including any reliance on its map or routing data. Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the App (which, for this free App, is zero).
11. Changes and termination. We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App or the law; when we do, we will update the effective date above. You may stop using Mapcraft at any time by deleting it. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
12. App Store license (Apple's EULA). Your licence to download and use Mapcraft from the App Store is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These developer Terms are additional to, and do not replace, that agreement. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App.
13. Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the publisher is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
